Annual Event held in May

This is yet another important qualifying opportunity for those with their eyes on the RORC Fastnet Race.

Both the race and the trophy that is awarded to the winner is named after the yacht of the same name. She was a 37′ 6″ sloop by Hugh McClean & Co built in Greenock in 1947. That yacht won the Fastnet Races of 1947 & 1949. In 1957 she was on the team that won the 1957 Admirals Cup.

The course, from Cowes to the top mark at the Eddystone Light is a windward/leeward beat against the prevailing south westerlies, and tidal flows the English Channel experiences in May. The race then finishes in the Solent.

Of the 300nm needed to qualify for the RORC Fastnet Race, this race contributes as many as 230nm of them.
