This is the final race of the RORC offshore calendar.
Staring on Friday, this is traditionally a heavily subscribed race with all yachts out to get the final points for their class Championships. This race is considered critical as last minute potential points can become the deciding factor of which yacht wins the series and championships.
The Cherbourg race is a relatively short race of 75 miles straight across the English Channel to Cherbourg. On entering the port in the early hours it is the hardy sailors that head for the bar!
There is always time for a meal ashore during Saturday, with departure after lunch and the prize giving to return to home waters in Cowes on Sunday.
