The Antigua to Bermuda race was originally conceived as a race for yachts to transit to Bermuda after the Caribbean Racing season prior to heading back east across the Atlantic. This inaugural race is timed perfectly to place yachts and crew in Bermuda just before the start of the last qualifiers and final of the 35th America’s Cup in which Land Rover BAR and Oracle Team USA are setting up for a tremendous battle for the Cup.

The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, working in association with Antigua Sailing Week, has organised this race to bring yachts to Bermuda to learn what a great place Bermuda can be as a cruising ground and staging area before the summer seasons in New England or Europe.

The replica schooner America, and the Sail Training sloop Spirit of Bermuda will flagship the race, which is open to contemporary and classic yachts, multihulls and superyachts. Yachts will be handicapped using IRC, CSA or CSA Classic ratings and Superyacht ratings. A secondary motor cruising handicap will also be provided.

The multiple record holder Phaedo 3 will be headlining this event in an effort to set yet another event record!

The race covers a distance of just under 1000nm.

Goslings Bermuda Rum will be sponsoring a grand Prize Giving in Bermuda.
