All 3 had just completed an intensive 16 weeks of training, which took them from complete novices, through all the RYA sail training courses under our Yachtmaster “Xpress” programme, including STCW, PPR and VHF, and 9 weeks of mile & experience building. The independent examiner stated ” this is the best crew of exam candidates I have seen in well over a year”! Well done to all of you from your instructors Pippa, Ian & Rich, all of whom played a part in their achievement.

How much is this 16 week Yachtmaster Xpress course? And when starting?
Can you give details? Is that to Ocean, theory & practical, etc?

Many thanks for your interest in Miramar Sailing School.
The next Yachtmaster “Xpress” programme starts on January 2nd 2017.
There are 3 modules but each can be taken individually.
Module 1 is the STCW10 1 week course during which you will achieve an RYA First Aid certificate essential for Yachtmaster Offshore exam application.
You will also achieve Basic Sea Survival which is a requirement for your Commercial Endorsement.
Module 2 is the 16 week course that takes you from novice Competent Crew to either Yachtmaster Coastal or Yachtmaster Offshore. It includes all the theory and practical courses, plus mile building, plus supplementary courses of Power Boat Level 2; SRC (VHF) Radio; Diesel Engine Maintenance, and RADAR. In next year’s “Xpress” package we are entering the RORC Caribbean 600 non stop offshore race as one of the mile building weeks. This should be a lot of fun and a great sailing experience.
Module 3 is a 2 week courses that takes you to the pinnacle of the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Scheme by preparing you for the Yachtmaster Ocean examination.
