Palpatine #5The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers is a world famous trans Atlantic sailing opportunity known for it’s “Cruise in Company” concept.
Over 200 yachts depart from Gran Canaria on November 20th heading for Rodney Bay in St. Lucia in the Caribbean.
The event stages several training seminars before the rally begins, and some fantastic arrival parties once you have reached Rodney Bay.
Take this late opportunity to become part of this fabulous trans Atlantic sailing opportunity by joining the Stimson 42 Palpatine as a member of the crew with some expert professional sailors to show you the ropes.
The details are:
PACKAGE COST £3,960 to include:

The “Palpatine” ARC package includes a 6 day preparation and training course in Gran Canaria, run back to back with the ARC itself. Passage/race time is expected to be under three weeks and may be as short as two weeks.
PRE REQUISITES:
Minimum age 18
Minimum of 30 days yachting experience, to include
Overnight offshore sailing
Sailing in watch patterns
Racing
Spinnaker use
RYA Sea Survival Course (one day course run from Southampton)
COURSE PROGRAMME:
13th November 2016 – Crew fly into Las Palmas
14th-19th November – Training and Preparation Week Commences
Yacht Familiarisation
Spinnaker Training
Safety Drills
ARC Seminars
Victualling Briefings
Resource management (battery charging, water and food)
Sextant set up
Weather routing and Ocean navigation
20th November 2016 – The ARC Race begins
Early December 2016 – The yacht is welcomed into St Lucia; the crew can remain on board for a couple of days
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
A week of pre event training and passage preparation in the Canaries onboard the yacht
ISAF Offshore Safety Course taught onboard in the Canaries

OPTIONAL EXTRAS:
There are up to two spaces on board available for aspiring Ocean Yachtmaster candidates, you may use this race as your qualifying passage for the Yachtmaster Ocean Exam. Our Instructor will expect you to take an active role in the passage planning and will help you work through the astro-navigation whilst on board. There is no extra charge for this option but places are limited, as we cannot have an entire boat full of watch leaders!

  1. Love this so much!! It gives me a concrete goal for next fall to get my sailing skills up to snuff. So hope you do it again.
