Guest stories, magic moments, engagements, anniversaries on Caribbean Yacht

We are blessed that our life style brings us wonderful moments every day. Just once in a while however, we enjoy “Magic Moments” and these are a few of them:

Trevor and MeredithMagic Miramar – Brian & Pippa get married
Brian & Pippa finally got married on March 27th 2010! To put the link below in context, “Magic” is a beautiful, white, lady dog, with a pink eye, that we often have the pleasure of looking after when her owners, Jan & Ian return to the UK. Jan is responsible for creating the collage in the link.

“Magic” got her name because Jan & Ian were discussing one night that it would be nice to get a dog and they should do something about it in the morning.

The next morning they woke up to find this puppy sitting, nervously, in their garden. It is not surprising their first words were “That’s Magic!”

Magic the DogJan, Ian and “Magic” are great friends of ours here in Antigua and are our preferred crew when we take “Miramar” racing. The effort Jan put in to creating such a memorable piece to record our wedding is incredible and very much appreciated. In this case we can truly say everything is Magic!

Trevor and MeredithTrevor & Meredith
A proposal of marriage was the plan, everyone knew except Meredith. Trevor was planning a romantic setting on a Caribbean beach. The weather went against them, the rocks and crabs upset Meredith and she jumped back into the water and high- tailed it back to the boat! Trevor went in after her still wearing his snorkelling gear, and we do not know how to write “will you marry me” when spoken with a snorkel in one’s mouth so we shall leave it to your imagination. Trevor and Meredith got married in 2009. Magic!

LindaLinda
Linda joined us with a deep rooted fear of swimming going back to childhood. She would not swim. During her time with us she not only caught her first ever fish (an 8lb African Pompano) but she plucked up the courage to attempt swimming again after many years. With her husband’s and Pippa’s encouragement, and a noodle, she managed to move more than 10 metres away from the yacht and was thoroughly pleased with herself. Linda will now go swimming again. Magic!

Joe & Liz Joe & Liz
We have had several “proposals” on board Miramar but Joe’s was the first we did not know about in advance. When it came it was brilliantly executed! As they sat on the back of the boat watching the sunset, Joe offered Liz a small gift. It was a packet of “Gummie” sweets. Liz looked up at Brian and said “we have always joked that when Joe proposes my ring will be a Gummie!” She then looked back at Joe who was now holding out a ring box. The question was popped, the answer was “yes” and we then had one very excited young lady with the most beautiful diamond ring on her finger. Well done Joe! Magic!

Sam – small boy, big fish! Sam – small boy, big fish!
Young Sam was determined to get involved with some fishing and catch a “whopper”. Little did he know that he would hook a fish half his size! This 8lb Dog Snapper took some landing but Sam managed it and the look on his face was a sight to behold. Magic!

George & CaoimheGeorge & Caoimhe
George is actually Pippa’s son and visited us for a holiday in July 2007. While here he proposed to his girlfriend Caoimhe. That was a terrific moment in itself. He then announced they would be back the following year to get married on Jolly Beach. With a small gathering of family and friends, the beach wedding against the white sand, blue sea and setting sun was truly spectacular. Pippa’s tears of happiness were flowing! Magic!
